DE SOKKEL #3: Study for different perspective

2012

The Klein Antwerp community association and the Middelheim Museum join forces to add a cultural dimension to an empty plinth in the park.

Cristian Bors and Marius Ritiu

After successful interventions by Henk Visch (b. 1950, Netherlands) and Ria Pacquée (b. 1959, Belgium), the quirky Romanian artists Cristian Bors (b. 1980) and Marius Ritiu (b. 1984) created a new sculpture as a key moment in their work How to become famous in one month.

You are young, talented but unknown. So how to become successful in the art world? This is the question the Romanian artists tried to answer during the past period. They clearly made a statement with their work. Their desire to become famous, preferably as soon as possible, constitutes an ironic approach of the world. They use strategies that promote notoriety, while also raising questions about how the art world operates.
