A lot of (diverse) research is conducted within the museum’s various departments (and often in collaboration with various partners): art historical and archival research, technical research into conservation and restoration methods for outdoor sculptures, research into methods related to public mediation, sustainability, and so on. The museum conducts research into art, but also does so within the field of art, by supervising PhDs in art, inviting artists for residencies and consulting on external projects.
It shares (the results of) this research in publications (pdf) and conferences, by developing and/or optimising public mediation instruments, by opening the doors of its documentation centre to the public. This is reflected in the presentation and creation of outdoor art.
